Privacy Policy

This privacy notice tells you what to expect us to do with your personal information when you contact us or use one of our services.

This notice tells you:

• why we can process your information
• what purpose we are processing it for
• whether you must provide it to us
• how long we store it for
• whether there are other recipients of your personal information.

Curio Research & Insight acts as a controller for most of the personal information we process, from time to time we act on behalf of our client as the data processor. In all cases we ensure that your data is protected.

Most of the personal information we process is provided to us directly by you for one of the following reasons:

• You have contacted us about market research.
• You wish to attend, or have attended, an event.
• You have made an information request to us.
• You are representing your organisation.

We also receive personal information indirectly, in the following scenarios:

• A fieldworker gave us your information for the purposes of taking part in a research event.
• A client gave us your information for the purposes of taking part in a research event.
• An employee of ours gives your contact details as an emergency contact or a referee.

If it is not disproportionate or prejudicial, we’ll contact you to let you know we are processing your personal information. Under data protection law, you have rights we need to make you aware of. The rights available to you depend on our reason for processing your information.

Your right of access

You have the right to ask us for copies of your personal information. This right always applies.

Your right to rectification

You have the right to ask us to rectify information you think is inaccurate. You also have the right to ask us to complete information you think is incomplete. This right always applies.

Your right to erasure

You have the right to ask us to erase your personal information in certain circumstances.

Your right to restriction of processing

You have the right to ask us to restrict the processing of your information in certain circumstances.

Your right to data portability

This only applies to information you have given us. You have the right to ask that we transfer the information you gave us from one organisation to another or to give it to you. The right only applies if we are processing information based on your consent.

You are not required to pay any charge for exercising your rights. We have one month to respond to you.

How long we keep your data

As part of our research studies we keep your data for as long as is reasonable. Typically, this is 30 days after the end of a study.

If a client gave us your details to call as part of a research project, we will do what the client instructs us to so long as it is lawful and so long as your rights are protected.

What are your rights?

You have a right to withdraw your consent at any time. Everything is voluntary. This is market research. We want you to take part and enjoy the process and, ideally, be rewarded financially for your participation.

We will not share your information with any third parties for the purposes of direct marketing. However, your information is passed to our market research clients as part of any research project you take part in or, in some cases, apply to take part in. For example, in a focus group, you will be meeting our clients and talking to them face to face, so they will know your name and information about you pertinent to the particular research study. For other projects a client may be meeting you in your home.

Our clients are as responsible as us when it comes to data. This means that they cannot do anything with your personal information unless we have instructed them to do it and you have agreed to it and none of this relates to selling in any way whatsoever. Your personal information is never shared with any direct marketers.

In some circumstances we are legally obliged to share information. For example, under a court order or a police investigation. In any scenario, we’ll satisfy ourselves that we have a lawful basis on which to share the information and document our decision-making and satisfy ourselves we have a legal basis on which to share the information.

Restricted contact

We may impose a restriction on your access to our services if it’s necessary to protect our staff from unacceptable behaviour. If we do this, we’ll create a record of the restriction for administration purposes, so relevant staff members know the restriction is in place. This will include your name, contact details and a description of why we have imposed a restriction. The decision to impose a restriction will be taken, and reviewed, by Andy Grout. We’ll review the restriction periodically. We’ll remove it if we feel your behaviour has changed.

Social media

If you send us a private or direct message via social media, it will be stored within the social media platform. It will not be shared with any other organisations.

Emailing us

We monitor any emails sent to us, including file attachments, for viruses or malicious software. You must ensure that any email you send is within the bounds of the law.

Visiting our website

Analytics

We use Google Analytics to collect standard internet log information and details of website visitor behaviour patterns. We do this to find out such things as the number of visitors to the various parts of the site.

Cookies

We use a cookies tool on our website which relies on the consent of users. This requires explicit opt in action by users of our website.

The purpose for implementing all the above is to maintain and monitor the performance of our website and to constantly look to improve the site and the services it offers to our users.
